Digital accessibility

Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement applies to the website www.cocoon-hotels.com, as well as to the digital services and booking options provided by Cocoon Hotels via this site.

Our aim is to ensure that all guests have the easiest possible and equal access to information, services and booking options – regardless of their individual physical or technical circumstances.

2. Legal basis and target standard

As a provider of an e-commerce service within the meaning of the Act on Strengthening Accessibility (BFSG), we are obliged to ensure that our website and booking process are accessible. The BFSG transposes the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) into German law.

We have adopted the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Conformity Level AA, as our technical target standard. In doing so, we are deliberately aiming for a higher standard than WCAG version 2.1 AA – which is currently formally binding via the harmonised standard EN 301 549 – in order to meet future requirements at an early stage.

3. Status of compliance with the requirements

The website is currently partially compliant with the requirements mentioned.

This assessment is based on an external technical audit (testing methods: Google PageSpeed Insights, WAVE, Screaming Frog), carried out on 31 March 2026. The issues identified during the audit are being addressed gradually as part of ongoing development and are summarised below.

4. Non-accessible content

Based on the audit carried out on 31 March 2026, there are currently still limitations, particularly in the following areas:

TopicDescriptionStatus
Labelling of controls Some buttons do not yet have clear and consistent labels, which means that screen readers may not always be able to identify their function. In progress
Heading structure In some cases, headings are empty or are not used in the correct hierarchical order, making navigation with assistive technologies more difficult. In progress
Colour contrast Some text areas do not yet fully meet the required contrast ratios and may therefore be more difficult to read. In progress
Alternative text for images Complete alternative text is currently missing for some images (approximately 357), which means that their content is only partially accessible to screen reader users. In progress
Responsive display At certain screen sizes, some content may still overlap or be cut off. In progress
Click and touch target sizes Some controls are still too small or positioned too close together, making them more difficult to use on mobile devices and for users with motor impairments. In progress
Link text Some link text does not yet clearly indicate the destination or purpose of the link. In progress
Form fields Not all form fields are currently labelled clearly or correctly associated with their labels for screen readers. In progress

5. Ongoing improvements

The issues identified in the audit will be addressed in order of priority. The key changes are scheduled to be implemented by 31 December 2026. When carrying out relaunches, functional updates and adding new content, we take digital accessibility requirements into account from the outset.

6. Feedback on accessibility
